ANARCHY ONLINE: Funcom, who recently announced declining company fortunes, are planning an engine upgrade for 8-yr-old sci fi MMO ANARCHY ONLINE. (source: eurogamer)
You can have a comparison look at a shot below and hop here for more. Nice to see Funcom still supporting AO. I was mildly obsessed with the game back in 2001/2002. Will we see MMOs hit 20th anniversaries in the next decade? I’m looking at you ULTIMA ONLINE!

“Colin “Means” Cragg - Game Director, Anarchy Online:
The Engine
Work is progressing very well. I was thrilled this week to come back and see proper water technology implemented and LOOKING GREAT in game…I am very pleased with the performance level of the current client given that the integration is still ongoing and the optimization efforts have not really begun… I think we can all look forward to reasonably significant performance increases despite the addition of a great new level of visual detail and effects. It is going to be great to finally leave AO’s CPU crunching of DX7 behind and take full advantage of todays GFX hardware with proper optimization.”
