NCsoft have issued a report which lists profits down 40%. The report also details concurrent player numbers for their MMOs; LINEAGE, LINEAGE II, CITY OF HEROES/VILLAINS, AION, and GUILD WARS. You may be surprised to learn that the eldest title, LINEAGE (pictured left), is still the champion in that regard.
The most distressing news for MMO fans is word that GUILD WARS 2, widely-believed to be arriving this year, has been delayed until 2010, possibly 2011. AION has also been delayed for North America (or, at least arriving later than expected). Ouch. (source: blues, voodoo extreme)
“Profit down 40% at NCSoft, to $20 million, Guild Wars 2 delayed to 2010-2011; Aion: Tower of Eternity to the fourth quarter of 2009; Blade & Soul to 2010. Player numbers for several games down, too…”
