MMO news is still trickling in at a snail’s pace as developers mosey back to work after the holidays. I’m sure things will be hopping come late January - but, for today, let’s look at a few fresh newsy bits.
Not strictly MMO-related - but it seems Ziff Davis is jettisoning some weight. The company has sold 1-Up.com to UGO and killed off long-running vid mag Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM). If you have a copy of the Jan. 2009 issue you may want to hang onto it -it’s now the final periodical.
Masthead Studios’ sci fi MMO EARTHRISE is now accepting Beta applications
Massively is reporting on the struggles of documenting MUD (”Multi User Dungeons”, aka MMO precursors) history. Apparently, Wikipedia doesn’t believe these games existed.
And finally, Wandering Goblin’s Pig has posted his latest MMO Weekly column and, as usual, it’s a good read. Enjoy!
